Title Building Safety Month 2026: Resources for Building Owners and Facility Managers in California
Introduction LA Testing offers indoor environmental quality (IEQ) laboratory testing services, sampling supplies, test kits, building inspection tools, air monitoring instruments, and more to identify and mitigate exposure risks in the built environment.

Huntington Beach, California, April 23, 2026

This May marks the 46th annual Building Safety Month, observed throughout California and around the world. The 2026 theme, “Built to Last,” highlights the importance of resilient construction, proactive maintenance, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to protect people and property. Organizations, companies, and municipalities across California will participate in activities and outreach efforts designed to raise awareness about building safety.

Building Safety Month initiatives provide property owners, landlords, facility managers, government officials, and the public with practical information and resources to help create and maintain safer indoor environments. This year’s weekly campaign themes include:

  • Week One: Safe Homes, Strong Communities
  • Week Two: Voices of the Built Environment
  • Week Three: Prepared to Protect
  • Week Four: Communities Without Limits

“Building safety depends on expertise from many disciplines, including indoor environmental quality,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “California faces a range of natural hazards, such as wildfires, earthquakes, and flooding, that can significantly impact building conditions and indoor environments. Our building science experts are proud to support the goals of Building Safety Month.”

With multiple laboratories throughout California, LA Testing provides comprehensive IEQ, industrial hygiene, materials, and infection control testing services. The company also offers sampling supplies, easy-to-use test kits, building inspection tools, air monitoring instruments, and a wide selection of personal protective equipment. These resources help optimize indoor conditions and safeguard occupants from potential microbial, chemical, radiological, and other exposure risks.
