Most people have encountered the unpleasant odor of sewer gas in a home or building at some point. Beyond the smell, sewer gas raises serious concerns due to potential health risks. To help reduce exposure, experts recommend simple preventative steps such as regularly flushing drains and plumbing fixtures to keep traps filled with water, as well as checking plumbing vents for cracks or blockages. Exhaust vents should also be installed away from ventilation intakes and windows.
