Title California Resources for National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week
Introduction LA Testing provides laboratory services, sampling supplies, test kits, and personal protective equipment to identify and mitigate lead exposure hazards in homes, schools, daycare centers, playgrounds, businesses, and other places.

Huntington Beach, California, October 16, 2025

National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW) will be observed this year from October 19–25, with events across California aimed at raising awareness about childhood lead exposure. This year’s California Department of Public Health (CDPH) theme for NLPPW is “Nutrition is Prevention.”

CDPH will host three free, public webinars during NLPPW. Sessions will focus on how nutrition can help reduce the absorption of lead, including guidance on specific foods and recipes that support prevention.

Lead poisoning remains a serious concern, especially for children. According to CDPH, it can damage brain development and cause lasting learning and behavioral challenges, often without obvious symptoms.

“There are still far too many children in California being exposed to lead from sources such as lead-based paint and contaminated drinking water,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager at LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “The good news is that most risks can be prevented. LA Testing is proud to support NLPPW by providing laboratory analysis of environmental and material samples, and protective resources to help communities safely identify and eliminate exposure hazards.”

LA Testing’s California facilities offer:

  • Lead and hazardous material testing for air, water, soil, paint, dust, food, and consumer products
  • Sampling supplies and easy-to-use test kits
  • Personal protective equipment to support inspections and remediation efforts
