Title Protecting Californians from Asbestos Exposure Risks
Introduction LA Testing offers asbestos testing services, sampling supplies, air monitoring instruments, building inspection tools, and personal protective equipment to identify and mitigate contact with asbestos-containing materials.

Huntington Beach, California, October 7, 2025

Asbestos continues to be a major health concern across California and North America. Once valued for its durability and heat resistance, asbestos was used in thousands of products and building materials for decades. Many of these asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) remain in homes, schools, and commercial buildings today.

While ACMs can remain stable if undisturbed, they become dangerous when they deteriorate with age or are disrupted during renovations, demolitions, or repairs. When asbestos fibers are released into the air, they pose serious risks to anyone who inhales them.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns that exposure to airborne asbestos fibers can lead to life-threatening diseases, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.

“Asbestos-related illnesses often take decades to develop, so prevention is critical,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager at LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “The only reliable way to confirm whether a material contains asbestos is through laboratory testing. Air and environmental sampling are equally important in determining whether exposure risks exist. Failing to manage asbestos responsibly not only puts people’s health at risk but can also result in significant regulatory penalties.”

To support communities, contractors, and property owners, LA Testing’s California laboratories provide:

  • Asbestos analysis
  • Sampling supplies and easy-to-use kits
  • Air monitoring instruments
  • Building inspection tools
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

These resources help identify asbestos hazards, protect workers and building occupants, and support compliance with regulations.
