The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced that an egg producer in San Bernardino County has voluntarily recalled several brands of eggs due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The FDA warns that Salmonella infections can be especially dangerous for young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms in healthy individuals often include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection may spread to the bloodstream, leading to serious conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis.

Authorities noted the contamination risk after reports of illness were linked to the company’s eggs. To date, more than 90 cases have been associated with this outbreak. The recalled eggs were distributed in California and Nevada. Consumers who purchased affected cartons or bulk supplies are advised to return them to their point of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely.
