Title Clean Air Month in California and Air Quality Optimizing Resources
Introduction LA Testing offers indoor and outdoor air testing services, monitoring instruments, sampling supplies and test kits to identify and mitigate exposure risks to airborne pollutants.

Huntington Beach, California, May 15, 2024

For decades, May has been designated as Clean Air Month. It is meant to be a time to educate the public about the connection between clean air and respiratory health, and to encouraging people to take positive steps to improve their air quality.

According to the South Coast Air Quality Management District:

Here in Southern California, Clean Air Month comes just as we enter the summer smog season. Hot, stagnant days can increase the formation of ground-level ozone (smog), creating potentially unhealthy air quality. South Coast AQMD reminds residents to stay informed of air quality levels in their area and adjust their activities accordingly.

“While the quality of the air people breathe outdoors is often dependent upon where they live, limiting a person’s ability to avoid certain pollutants when outside, the air quality in homes, schools and businesses can usually be more easily controlled,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “This is significant as many people spend up to 90% of their time indoors. A few of the common airborne pollutants that can be found inside of many homes and buildings across California include radon, mold, pollen, dust mites, animal dander, cockroach allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide, tobacco smoke, wildfire smoke, particulate matter, asbestos fibers, lead, pesticides, cleaning chemical fumes and sewer gas.”

Dedicated to improving indoor environments are the testing experts at LA Testing. With multiple California laboratories, LA Testing offers air and indoor environmental quality testing services, sampling supplies, easy-to-use test kits, building inspection tools, air monitoring instruments, and even respirators and other personal protective equipment.

Several years ago, LA Testing sponsored an educational video about Clean Air Month and the importance of indoor air quality that can still be seen at:
